Searching for a Star Port

Welcome, welcome, welcome! Thank you so much for coming back to these parts for yet another installment of weirdly repetitive but sometimes interesting sounds that occasionally resemble music!

I spent most of this week working on one project I had started last week, but I super wasn't feeling it. So at 5am on Thursday morning, while I was at airport waiting to board a plane to visit family, I went back to a blank canvas and started to fiddle around with the Fluted Macrosynth synth and found a few cool sounds. I then explored a bit with the Digital Filter LP Macrosynth synth and found yet another cool sound I liked, so used that to put down some two-key chords. From there, I knew I wanted to add a main synth lead, so I messed around with the Vosim Macrosynth until I found something that could carry a good melody.

The main pieces of this were put together in the 1.5h I waited at the airport before boarding and during the first 30min immediately after boarding. However, I was so absolutely destroyed after having to wake up at 4am to go to the airport that I had to put the M8 down and just sleep through the rest of the flight.

Finally, today, after a couple of days of not touching the M8, I got back to the song and was able to wrap it up. I feel like it has a little bit of a sci-fi vibe. Like, I can see a little tiny miner ship that's carrying a load of valuable ore, but its navigation system bugged out, so the pilot is forced to just wing it and try to find a star port to land on, all by his own wits.

As an aside, I've spent the last couple of days just chilling with family and exchanging old stories. I am incredibly grateful to have these wonderful people in my life, even though I don't get to see them often. I am just so damn lucky. Yeah, family can be messy, there can be problems, there can be drama and other nonsense. But damn, I care about and love these people so deeply.

Anyways, I hope y'all have had a fantastic week and weekend!

Cheers!!!

great tune! I always feel like the songs I make while traveling continue to remind me of the time. Glad you've had such a good time on your trip.

That's great that you were able to put that airport time to such good use.  I always feel like it's such a drudge/waste of time.  I really need to start bringing portable recording equipment with me.  But yeah, there are some really cool sounds here and I like the story you came up with about the miner ship.  I can definitely see that.  I wouldn't have minded if this one went on a little bit longer actually.

Def feelin the arduous space journey vibes especially with that synth lead that has a heroic theme to it.  That's some awesome productivity getting this started before your flight.  Time with fam is always appreciated that's for sure!

this sounds like the beginning of a great adventure! nice work, and great use of time.
best to you and yours  heart

heh, love the story for your track, I'm feeling it. Agree that those are cool sounds! Liked the lead the best, but the arpeggio on the flute is nice too.

I can really feel the vibe, but that one synth is maybe a bit too much, like it's the planetary defense lasers trying to bring down the ship.
