Going and Going and Going

Well hello, my fellow Weakly Beat Stars!!! Welcome back to this weird corner of the music-making internet!

I can't believe we've made it through 39 weeks!!! 75%!!! That means we're almost done!!!! I have the feeling that if I've made it this far, I'll most likely be able to survive to the finish line. Fingers crossed!!!!!

About 95% of this tune was put together on a bus ride from Austin to Houston. Throughout the weekend I was able to tweak it a little bit here and there and add some flavor to a couple of sections. However, in this process, I noticed that I inadvertently ripped off Sweedish House Mafia's "One" - specifically the little down-turn closer in my song's repeating motif sounds a lot like SMH's main melody. 100% accidental and I only noticed while sitting down to write this! Hahahahaha...

This whole song was made only using three tracks on the M8 Tracker, and all three tracks only use the WAVSYNTH synth engine.

I don't know why, but I'm really really happy with this one. It's just another chiptuny marching song, but I really like how this feels like it has a bite to it. And I'm strangely proud of the melodic line that kicks in at around 1:15. Nothing special, but it was just super fun to make. Short and fun! JUST LIKE ME!

Also, thanks so much for y'all's immensely kind comments on my last two submissions!!!!

Looking forward to hearing what you've been up to musically for this past week!

Later, peeps!!!!

PS: I'm back on my horse! I was able to make two independent submissions this week - one to Weekly Beats and another to the M8 Community Jam!!! Woohoo!!! You can check it out here.

Oh yeah! This sounds epic! You got a really authentic sound on this and I love that percussion. I'm feeling like I'm on the final level of some NES dungeon crawler.

This has a nice build to it and I like the way it just feels like its propelling you along.

Sounds really nice and, hmm, ineluctable, industrious. Like a steampunk dwarf fortress or something or that ilk.

I really dig the kick here, every hit is a little different but it never loses its impact/transient/general oomf. I kinda wanna hear it with some massive reverb lol (though I realize that's not quite genre appropriate lol). Really cool little piece smile

I love this one! I'm listening at work (like ya do) and could have sworn someone was LSDJ-ing. Great sounds that definitely ring true for OG chiptune and that lead solo is HOTT. Great job on this one!

this has such great momentum! love the lead that comes in and i feel like i just accomplished something mAJOR.
(i did figure out what was messing up the pivot table on this spreadsheet, so i'm gonna pretend this song is for MEEEE)

nice work!

Epic crunchy chiptune! Love that repeating motif against the descending line under it. Great tension and feel. Awesome track, it's relentless.

3 tracks of WAV only = are you going for an LSDJ vibe? It definitely sounds like it!

fun little galloping feel to it. The long drawn out melody over the top is *chefs kiss* when the melody speeds up it really adds to the energy of it all. killer

Simple but effective. Maybe a little too simple, the lead could use a gentle envelope.

Love that this coincides with the Gameboy Camera I purchased recently. I like how much this progresses!

I like the marching feel the pulsing kick gives to the track.  Excellent development of the melody midway through too.  Keep going!

this reminds me a bit of pong - super catchy - i feel like it needs a special game or dance smile
