the labour of chemists

By Jason Nijjer on June 7, 2026 11:42 pm

A bit of a disjointed one this week, I think I just need to step away from it now and not miss the deadline.  A nice day outside that I couldn't resist, so this one is mixed outside on the laptop enjoying the fleeting sun, apologize if the mix is too all over the place.

Feels like I just unearthed a time capsule with undiscovered music.  Loving the groove of the drums with the bass and samples.  I can feel the sunshine breaking thru with the main melody.  Well done!

Wow such nice trip-hop vibes. Love all that warm crackle.

Never apologise for getting outside in nature.

Really love the sounds on the beat, great selection of samples as well.

The chemists of sound have not laboured in vain.

heads did nod. nice mix, Jason!
enjoy that sunshine... before it turns sinister  O.O

Wow, so spacious yet tight and tied neatly together by the drums. Overall a very grounded but also open track, Love it smile

Very cool.  Digging the hiphop tunes.  Great beat too with the swirling sounds.

I actually play bass in a hiphop group and have supported the likes of Charlie 2na (Jurassic 5) twice even and the last big one was De La Soul.  I've been a hiphop fan for many years!

That is so freaking awesome, always been a Jurassic 5 fan and a huge De La Soul fan, they were one of the first hip hop groups I really got into.  Would love to hear some of your work with the hip hop group.

This is a good taste of what we sound like live and was recorded well.  The band lineup changes depending on the gig.  We had a big band similar to this for the De La gig.  2 MCs, DJ, bass, guitar, sax, 2 female backing vocals and drums.

Usually it's at least MC, DJ and bass. And usually a trumpet or sax if possible.  It was great hanging with Charlie 2na.  He's super nice.  Have been fortunate enough to support him on the last two tours actually.  smile

Thanks for the link, this is really good, I love the flow and subject matter of the tracks, great lyrics and great production by all of you

Thanks mate.  Appreciated!   I do like how the lyrics aren't all hiphop ego stuff.  It's a fun band to play bass in.
