The Lair

Well, this isn't what I was planning to make... I really just wanted to make some fast and simple techno - and then just for fun, I slowed my clock down from 135bpm to 80, and kinda dug the groove. So what the hell, right? big_smile

Anyway, the end result reminded me of weird JRPG mystery demon dungeon exploration music, hence the title!

As always, mainly recorded live as one take on the modular synth - but in a new development, I've finally upgraded my setup to be able to multitrack stems from my mixer. This will be fun to explore over the rest of the year I'm sure!

Patch notes:
This week was a bit of a hybrid setup, with the majority of the track recorded live as one take from the modular, but some layers added afterwards in DAW, namely:
- Unsettly chord pad: (Noisy2 VST with a chord progression from SpaceWalk)
- Bass line (overdub recording from the Osmose, arranged in DAW)

Actual patch notes of the eurorack patch:
- Bell lead: pings from Joranalogue Collide 4
- Harmonic pads: Sdkc Helical through Xaoc Zagrzeb
- Rhythmic chord stabs: Serge Medusa through Serge VCFS and Make Noise QPAS
- Formanty growls: Forge TME Vhikk X highpassed with Bastl Ikarie
- Drums: WMD Clutch, Crucible, Fracture, and Kraken, as well as Ohmforce Bohm for the kick.
- FX: Strymon Starlab and Qu-Bit Nautilus in the modular, supplemented by UA Galaxy Tape Echo and Valhalla Supermassive in the DAW.

Hope you'll enjoy something a little different from me this week! xoxo

This is really really good. Gives me NIN Ghosts vibes in the best possible way.

Yeah I'd hide out in here and plan my next moves.

Great transitions
Love the crunchy lowtempo beat and wet bassline

Visually your setup is a feast heart

Love the dark atmosphere on this one (especially in contrast to those brighter plucks)

This place is filled with creepies and crawlies. They're all over the console.
- Spider

good thing it wasn't planned. Thanks for the trip.

Really enjoyed this one on the stream - it has a sense of quiet I really like, almost feels a little uneasy. Great stuff.

Once heard, this cannot be unheard—I know exactly what you mean.  Like PS1/PS2/Saturn/Dreamxast-era dark-pixeled 3D dungeon with CD audio and chunky big pixels.  Really cool groove with some great SFX; I'm glad you tried slowing it down

I can't find the materia!  I knew it was right here next to this chest!

Very good mix of eerie elements while maintaining a solid structure

haha It's amazing how often dropping the tempo magically makes things more compelling some times. I quite like the timbre of that bell lead. Very vibey submission. Really enjoyed it.
