Hour of Grace

This track had a fun genesis... I set out to make something rough and dirty with fucked-up, mangled and pitch-shifted hard beats and breakbeats... and at first, it was going alright. And then I added some nice harmonic pads. And then this bass progression. And then I realized that the drums really don't fit into it anymore - so I removed them. Funny how these things go sometimes!

After listening back to the final take, I realized it was missing a bit of movement, so I pulled out the Osmose and recorded a little improv over it. I should do that more often... it's pretty fun to have the modular system as a giant, dynamic backing track to improvise over!

Anyway, I like how this one turned out. People always say, don't try to do polyphony in modular, to which I say: But I wanna!

Patch Notes:
Voices:
- Schlappi Three Body filtered by Xaoc Zagrzeb as the little melody loop
- Sdkc Helical through the Olivella Modular Imagènes did the chord pads, via Strymon Starlab for lush shimmer reverb
- Vhikk X as the bass voice
- Osmose raw for additional melody duty.
Reverb and delay added in Ableton.

Really beautiful. Haunting, reflective, maybe a little melancholy. Wonderful sounds and textures smile

Sometimes It's really nice to just let these beautiful voices just breathe for a few minutes.

Really pretty soundscapes on this smile

This is so gorgeous and haunting at the same time

Wonderful. So lush.

so nice. beautiful ambience, could listen for hours. jelly of that osmose! glides sounding nice, you are good at gliding!

It kinda made me cry a bit. It's so soft, so mellow, so minimalistic and yet it carries so much. The sounds are gorgeous, and I could only let my mind flow with everything. And this haunting little high ostinato sticking everything together, it's just spot on for me. (Also I know it's obvious for everyone but I never said it, your setup is gorgeous)

2:16 swell into the chord progression is so perfect. This one is on the keeper list for sure.

Amazing stuff, space-y vibe that makes you a bit sad when it ends. No notes, it's superb!

well this is freaking beautiful
