WB 04 - Analog

By Jamatar on January 26, 2020 11:54 am

I had so many plans for this week. I knew I wanted to try something analogue, maybe a single synth running an arp and something over the top. I was planning on doing this without a computer but eh, ended up leaving it to Sunday night yeeeep

So here it is, a challenge track, nothing but 4 tracks of Behringer Model D. I actually hate how sometimes the simple stuff is really kinda decent haha

it's always the tracks that I put the most work into that end up feeling kinda "meh" to me and then the track that I tell myself is a joke thing I'm just messing around with ends up better than something I spent hours and hours on ofc

that is to say, this is dope

Halfway through listening to this, I forgot it was a wb tune and just sat in my chair spacing out. My god you are the king of synthwave vibes. I really really really like this! heart

This is awesome; creative constraint challenges are the best!

Tell me about it! I'm liking this vibe so far, definitely gonna do more pure analog jams!

Thanks so much smile That's some pretty high compliments coming from you, the synthwave master smile smile smile

"somehow decent" i'm obsessed! This is the first track I'm listening to this week and god the rest are gonna have such a hard time following this. This sound is exactly what I'm about. I love that feeling of forgetting it's a WB tune. Put this on spotify, send me the link, I'm playing it for days.

very nice

I dig the sound of that pitch sliding pad

Simple probably means condensed, so you get to the good bits quicker. That's just a theory.

This is really nice. Never wanted a model D but maybe.

damn. when's next synth club night?

This reminds me of that Wojciech Golczewski's End of Transmission album which had the same minimal approach, except with a MiniMoog instead. I've been meaning to try this with one of my synths for a while, seems like a fun exercise in limitation and creativity.

Also, listened to Midorisuki this morning, fantastic album.

Thanks so much smile I'm leaning towards making an EP of this kind of stuff now smile

Sounds like a solid theory!

It's honestly one of my favorite instruments right now! It's such a staple sound, and it does it well.

Thanks so much heart heart! It sure is, it's a great way to know all your synth's strengths and weaknesses, and gets you good at learning how to write with them.

That's so true! After spending days looking for the perfect pad, sometimes is better to go back to a nice sawtooth wave and don't overcomplicate things.

Anyway, this one's a great track. Very Tangerine Dream-like, the sound you're getting from the synth.

Simpler is always amazing. I really like the progression!
