Bombshells

I wrote the core idea for this around 2011 and it remained dormant as yet another one of my many, many incomplete music thingoes... *dramatic pause* UNTIL NOW!
The only remnant I have of the original idea is a video (?!) of me playing the verse/break/chorus on an acoustic then going '???'. I noticed the video in the idea vault last week, so when this week came around I thought "hmm... let's give that one a whirl..."
Although this representation of the song is somewhat loosely what I had in mind back then, I certainly didn't have the means to realise it this way until recently. I didn't even have an interface or proper DAW in 2011, let alone a bunch of cool plugins and gear to help my demos sound more polished. WeeklyBeats 2020/2022/2024 has also helped greatly in experience, learning tiny bits of mixing stuff with each entry. I still feel super amateur, but I can at least see the progress from the 2020 entries to now.
A couple of new experiments for me with this one; layering more guitars to try fatten the sound without it being too muddy (the main rhythm part is eight layers in total). I tried different eq and effect levels and a phaser to keep layers less muddled.
I wanted a chaotic kind of lead guitar bit, but my lead chops are limited so the cool stuff I was hearing in my head wasn't reaching my fingers. Hopefully what is there conveys a little controlled chaos.
I also tried a more aggressive approach to vocals, I don't really have that kind of voice, but an attempt was made.
I spent a bit more time tinkering with plugins on this one, such as adding some comp and eq to each individual drum instead of just using the default kit layout.
I am yours tonight
You hold me down, I hold on tight
It won't be calm for long
At any time, you drop your bomb
Oh no, eggshells
Tip toe, through hell
You train the butterfly
To do your will or it will die
You suffocate my soul
And wrap me up in your control
Oh well, I'm done
Hope you, had fun
Write a book about it
Send a message, phone a friend
Just don't take it out on me
Get yourself a hobby
Hold your breath and count to ten
Don't take your shit out on me
