The Way It Is

By Jackmsimpson on May 31, 2026 8:36 pm

New tuning this week - DAEAAE - its pretty jangly with some nice chord voicings utilising open strings. Used a capo...4th fret I think.

A bit more upbeat...I guess. Still in the same sort of wheelhouse of rest of my WB tunes, but that's not a bad thing I suppose.

Continuing using the Safari Pedals plugins - Still enjoying them!

Enjoy your week!

Lyrics:

There's the smoking gun
Another promise left unsaid
There goes another one
Like a bullet to the head
The lies still on your breath
The truth is what I bled
I felt the bullet hit
On the line we feared to tread

Call me out
Drag me down
Lock the door on the past that used ti be
This is the way it is, the way that's made for me

One more day you said
Then we can start again
Another payment then
Our lives start to begin
Another pound of flesh
To cleanse you of your sin
Hardly worth the wait
When I know what lies within

Call me out
Drag me down
Lock the door on the past that used ti be
This is the way it is, the way that's made for me

YO i've never heard you before?  this is awesome!  I do some guitar/band stuff (not this week) as well.

love the tuning and love the "call me out / drag me down" chord movement

downloaded!!!

nice one!

Uplifting chords with your calmingvocals and excellent guitar work! Well done!

Fantastic arrangement. Love how the melody flows against the chord voicings. It's 100% jangle rock, but so smooth feeling....and then that solo comes in and tear some jagged holes in the tapestry. Great contrast, sounds so good.

Really like the sound of DAEAAE! I've played around with open D5 (DADAAD), actually wrote one of my own personal favorite songs with it...but sounds like yours has better opportunity for some tasty voicings. I need to give it a try!
