Backseat Light

Something a little different this week - trying to leave vocals a little more exposed, less layers of guitars to hide behind, so a much more stripped back approach.

Used the SSL Acoustifier plugin on one of the guitar tracks - not sure how I feel about it, but something I'm going to keep tinkering with for DI acoustic guitar recording.

Hope you enjoy! Any feedback is always welcomed!

Fantastic, this is indie jangle rock gold. Tasty chord voicings, and having the vocals a little further forward is perfect - gives an intimacy to the song that absolutely fits. Great melody work as well, and how it sits against those chords. And oh the “YESSS” look on my face when you ripped into that solo - total Matthew Sweet vibes.

My one suggestion - I would LOVE to hear this with a vocal harmony part, maybe just on the chorus. It would break things up melodically a bit more, and give a huge emotional boost.

Love this. Another favorite.

@paisleyfrog - thanks for the lovely feedback! I'll experiment with some harmonies - could be what is missing!

ooh, this is very pretty, and definitely agree the vocals could do with a kick
