Taiko

By J Sangha on May 29, 2022 5:56 pm

Used a bunch of Taiko samples in this track.

The title and the explanation was modest, and it was indeed a simple taiko track at the beginning, but with good subtleties. I liked how at the start the taikos were really the center of attention, with some distant layers to highlight them. But this was all deceiving! This track was slowly building up! The high taiko from around 2:05, the high singing, followed by a brief pause at 2:09 - that was sooooo tasteful. The right amount. And from 2:10 we go into full groove territory. The taiko meshes very well with the rest of the sample to bring a very original result. Head bopping while listening to this track, the groove is strong.

The section from 3:45 with the sound kinda wavering along with the voice is really super cool and adds another life again into the track.

That was really nice! Favorited this one.

Thank you so much for the long, and well thought out review.

wow, it started out shrouded in mystery and then went into such a satisfying dreamy-disco-like trance, nice one!

Thank you.  Really appreciate it.  Tried something different.

I don't know where you dig vocals from, but they're the best samples, and I don't tip the hat, I TAKE IT OFF.

That second half is gorgeous -- this is a gem, inspiring to the max. heart Favoriting and downloading, I think this one will see a lot of play, the melodic groove from chopped-up-repeats of the vocals (you play those solo at the end) is early-Burial-doing-house (Raver) type vibes.

Thanks so much for the kind, and thoughtful review of my track.  I have so many sample packs for vocals.  That was synth part was a buchla preset that I played.  Always give that classic west coast sound.  I’ve used it a few times.

This is so dope!  The taiko drums have such a nice sound and love the build-up to this, had a 90's talvin singh feel to it.  Second half of the track really sets things in motion with the added vocal chops and synth plucks and stabs.  I got lots of vocal samples, but they never sound this good, you got the skill to blend and chop them into the mix.

Listening again, so good, one of your best for the year!

Thanks j!  I was going for a cinematic feel.  I always start without vocals, then something always pulls me back to add them after the fact.

Awesome track! Yeah cinematic in how this evolves, a story is underway. The taiko drums sound great. wow, this gets so hot when beat and vocals come full on, got chills a bit. Dang! Tasty, just a fine thing you have happening here. Drums are subtle but also insistent too, sweet.
