funkier shit

By J Sangha on May 22, 2022 8:50 pm

Sequel track to Funky shit.  Tried to play most of the melodies with my new midi keyboard this time rather than programming midi.  So fun.  Panned a lot of my percs to add more bounce.  Used Serum VST for all of the sounds except bass.  Bass was a bass guitar sample.

v danceable and funky! feels like a lot of layers, it's nice to get lost in it. quite abrupt ending. but the beginning is really dope

Thanks!

Lotta weird funky shit alright
- Ebrit

My Monday needed this, nodder for sure.

funky beauty with xtra sweetness in those vox, nice smile

Great vibe with this, uplifting, gets you smiling and moving

QQ: will there be the finale called funkiest shit? Man, this is grooving me bananas -- love how it fools you into a lounge-type vibe only to say NOPE and just build w/ those vocal samples. 1:40 to the end is fire, if you ever play live, make sure to HALT TO SILENCE, then drop it.

Crazy crazy good.

That’s a very sophisticated track that benefits from multiple listens. I first noticed the piano and upper layers. The vocal layers are treated equally to other instruments, adding texture and interesting sonic elements. The beat can be heard more clearly at the end and it’s really a good one - it even sounds like there are une percussions (?) or that type of rhyhtm  elements?how did playing the keyboard vs programming change your approach to the track and the composition?

Thanks for the feedback.  I’m not a skilled performer, so it took way longer to layer the sounds for melody , than simply programming them in.  Making a bass line was much easier than programming.  There are three layers of bass, and one sub bass layer.

super fun!

Thanks so much!  My intent was to make something dancy.

i think i added this to my week 20 highlights reel for some specific reason last week, but honestly i don't remember it anymore.  so all i can do is remark on the generally stellar groove
