Look Into The Stars

Download the 215KB project here! (Updated project with my own bell patch)

Spent almost all of my time making new patches for this track, was up till 6am last night updating my Linn drum kit, and fixing the midi script for the OP-1 controller. The vocals ended up taking way too long as usual, so didn't really get a chance to listen to this all the way through before rendering, so a bit rough in the mix, but it's better than nothing!

Love it, even more convinced there's not a genre / sound I wouldn't want to hear your take on. Tip of the hat, nod of the head, awesome track. heart

Since I didn't see the title or the gifs, my first thought was that the opening could have gone one of two ways. The way you ended up going with like sci-fi documentary whimsy, or Halloween slasher flick lol. You totally nailed the sound throughout the track, it feels really polished but the quality also feels like it's straight of an album made in the 80's. I'll need to download the project and take a closer look at how you did it.

Awww thanks for the cute gif!

Not going to lie, that bell patch is actually super sick.

Wait, you have an OP-1?  That you don't use??

What did you update on the Linn drum?  Just tweaking sounds to get them closer?  Those descending tom fills sound super super spot on.

This is a great end credits song for a movie.  Really appreciate the exxxxtra fade out.

Yup, I've had an Op-1 for a long time now. But it has a knob issue, which makes it difficult-ish to use standalone, and I don't think it's worth the cost getting fixed, especially after my experience with TE the first time I had to send it in. But I pulled it out recently when I remembered I could write a script for it in FL Studio that let's me use all the transport buttons, and code my own actions for all the non-note buttons, which there are a lot!
The Linn Drum update is pretty much me remaking all the drums from scratch again (I don't remember if I redid the cymbals or hats), but with better reference samples that sound a bit better than the ones I used before. Also benefiting from a ton more Sytrus experience & techniques. I can tell it's not a real Linn drum when playing solo, but I regularly forget it's not a Linn drum in the mix, which is good enough for me! I doubt most people wouldn't realize it's not sampled (or care) imo.
Yes! 80s cinema was a vibe I was going for!
