1997-MIDI-THEME.NES

I found an unfinished MIDI file I made a quarter century ago.  It was intended to be the theme for a game, but I don't remember the details.  So I've remade (and finished) it to sound like a game―a Gameboy or NES game:  4 channels, no samples, no FX, all patches made from scratch using wavsynth at SIZE 20h.

100% made and mixed on a Dirtywave M8 Tracker.

Right back in my teen years playing Megaman on NES roms! This is definitely a good time. Excellent patching and programming! The breakdown at 3:30 was awesome.

You’ve done your 25-year-ago self proud! Great noise channel, and solid arps and vibrato keeping everything moving. And that half-time turn at the end? Chef kiss!

Keeps me from digging out the midines and I am grateful for that

this was big fun. love the hickups.

1997, I was 14 at the time and was not yet making tunes (but "writing" them on a shitty Yamaha keyboard, haha).

Love the tune & the drum sound design in particular. Hm, not many weeks left, but maybe should give this chiptune business a try...

7 year old me would've enjoyed it, now however, I love it. I wonder what kind of game this would be, perhaps something similar to Shovel Knight?

Those patches at 1:40 ish tickle my ears in such a pleasingly way

Loving the vibe of this track. It's super awesome that you were able to pick this up after a quarter century.

mmmm excellent wavsynth workout.

Beautiful, love the story behind it. Another 1990s MIDI composer here, I feel you, great that you could give it another life There is a majestic Cave Story kind of vibe to it, really nice.
