His Girl Friday Night (Menucore)

By ineff on December 15, 2024 11:58 pm

Started chopping vocals from a Cary Grant movie, ended up with something like those 90's-style Sega Saturn/PS1 menu BGMs.
Trying to imagine what kind of a game and menu it would be.

Wow, awesome sample work here! That bass sound is dope. The mix sounds awesome. Really enjoyed this!

total 90's sega! Maybe I'm partial but I love this. It's like new-stalgia. Also, good reminder about those copyright free sampling sources.

nice to see you back. and what a return!!
it's all so crisp and cool, but that high register verbed out synth lead that comes in @ 2:15 is particularly WILD.
hell yeah

This is brilliant stuff. Super cool breakage and samplage, and a sick bass!

It's **so** good to see you back here.
And I hard agree with jwh, this is such a strong entry to come back with!!!
Totally feeling the PS1 vibe you're alluding to here. Really cool vocal work, too!!!

There's no need for a game, people will just be in the menu forever

love the breaks and chops, that rubbery bass is dope!

Bouncing in my seat, yesss. Love your sample chops, this has energy! Menucore!

Cool, thrilling and superb bass!

damn, love this!

Holy moly this absolutely rules. Gives me Jet Grind Radio in the best possible ways. Actual goosebumps.

Awesome energy on this and great usage of the samples.

Jungle is massive, huh? haha

I love what you did with the chopped drums and vocals. The chords and synths in the background provide delicious context. And the eerie lead in the second part is fantastic. Those harmony changes you used really fit the "menucore" genre description you used. An excellent track all around!

Ooof i love the groove of this.  The snares in the chopped breaks sound so good and pleasing.  A nice contrast to the thick square bass sound.  Had to nod and finger drum along such a groove when that synth lead kicks in around 2mins.  Excellent use of all those samples and brought me back to some Spring Heel Jack late 90s feels.
