Chip Opener

By ineff on January 7, 2024 5:20 pm

I've been prepping a live set for this year's Chipspace, so I made this short opening number to a.) set a brisk tempo and b.) establish that This Set Contains Chiptune.  In the performance version, quiet section at the end transitions into the next track.

100% made and mixed on a Dirtywave M8 Tracker.

Holy chip, this is FIRE! Right away, this track is slapping but then at 0:40, it really takes off. I love all of the glitchy sounds. Bravo!

Aw dang, yeah! Really love the sharp cuts with the noise, but the melody is strong throughout and holds it together.

nice and bouncy with some crazy percussion!

Tasty jam here! I really dig the little glitchy breakdown right around 1:00. Welcome back, and keep it up!

Thanks!  I mostly have you to thank for a lot of the crazy percussion―I'd literally just finished the LSDJ 9.x  noise channel video and intense tech article before starting the track, and I tried to apply some of those ideas to the M8/wavsynth.  Can't wait to try it all on LSDJ, but ironically I probably won't have time until MAGfest. tongue

I am getting curious if/how some of the crazier stuff will translate over the chipspace PA, but I guess I'll find out in about a week

Chip mode engaged, great blend of crunch and chippy melodies.

Tasty chips!

nice and frenetic!  also pls maek yellow "This Set Contains Chiptune" police tape to sell and/or unroll around chipspace perimeter at mag

nice!

Cute exciting song and I love this wobbling sound! I think it's a machine that creates many small round dancing birds smile

Ha, so many chip techniques keep this so exciting, and i love that snare(it's like a 'chortle', i feel it in my mouth for some reason(-"that's what she said"...sorry couldn't resist)), such delectable detail! heart

It sounds crazy, fun and super cool! Good work!

this is fire!! that part at 0:48 is so freakin kinetic and wild, good job

nice one! love that you did it all itb in m8!  also great drum sounds, i like the sort of swipey sounding ones, it sounds like the drums are being eaten alive

wow! amazing sound design!

Weehooey, the chips are indeed open with the new year and I'm enjoying this tasty snack. Bouncing around the room. Some super delicious squelchiness.

Amazing how you crammed so many cool scenes into one 1:29 tune! The second and third scenes were my favorite.

hitting that chiptune nostalgia for me, groovy track! Love the melodic content around 00:50

This brisk chiptune is a little triumph.

This packs a lot into a short amount of time!  Lots of great sounds and energy.

Wow!! I hope I’m able to get to your level by the end of 10 weekly beats from now. My track for week 2 is 100% M8. I made some nice sounds but nothing as incredible as these!

eclectic in the best way, lovely stuff

great bounce to this

Nice! I can picture people going so berserk in the club during the first minute that they need that rest during the fadeout in last thirty seconds.

It has definite chip essence, but there's also enough dynamics and mixing to make it feel 3D. Good funky pocket too.

Quality chip action!

The intro is great, really catching the listener. The sounds are indeniably chiptune but that intro is very original. That energy is contagious, I am head bopping all the way through the track. Those melodies are infectious. That break at 1:00 is epic, and I love how that changes the dynamic of the whole track, slowly fading out. Now we need a game made based on this track.

Awesome!

Love when it goes off just before the minute mark, well done!

I like the energetic noodly melody, but what I really love are the crispy boots and cats :3

hot damn!

I'd open these chips. They sound so awesome! big_smile
Great to hear your sound again. Looking forward to your WeeklyBeats this year!

damn this is so good, well done!

This hits just right. well done!!

Holy moly, this kicks off so sick!!! The complexity and layering here is outstanding, awesome job!!!

lol at: "This Set Contains Chiptune"

great track, the quiet ending was actually interesting on its own accord

Bold interval jumps – would need a virtuoso to perform by hand!
Great glitch effects.

Listening to this again and omg that part between 0:54 and 1:02 is SO GOOD. It goes SO hard between 0:40 and 1:00. I'd love to see how you're getting all of those glitch effect variations. It's perfection

You craft excellent head-nodding thick beats.  Enjoyed the quick pace of this one and quiet ending
