Turn Back

So for this week's challenge I wanted to do a Portishead style triphop track using a singing synthesizer and see if I could get it to sound realistic and imitate Beth Gibbons a bit.

Lots of firsts for me,
My first time writing lyrics for a song, hopefully they're not too terrible.
First time using a singing synthesizer, which was really fun.
First time scratching.
First time spending time on mixing/mastering to get a certain sound.

Music made using M8, controlling some FabFour via midi for the guitar.
Vocals created with Synthesizer V using ANRI voice.
My brother lent me his turntables so I attempted to scratch over the track to complete the effect, but I'm pretty noob with them.
Some mixing and mastering in Reaper to give it that dark lo-fi vibe.

The vocals really are nice, not sure the scratching really adds much, but it's nice

I am really feeling the portishead here. sounds sick.

Really like the vibe of this, and the haunting vocals are excellent.

Nice and chill. I like the keys break.

Super dark!  Love ya work.

Spot on! I'm going to have to check out SV.

The using the double tempo in the end half works great. Very filmic and evocative!

like it

Whoa.  Nailed it!

This melody to the vocals is so beautiful. Great trying new things!

lovin this dark spooky vibe.

love it. I don't have any critique because I am just impressed.
