Sick Date

By impbox on February 11, 2024 12:03 pm

Something kinda synthpoppy I guess, inspired by The Knife and one of my friend's projects, wanted to do something a bit more cute and bounncy since my usual stuff is pretty dark.

Here's a simple song about having a date but you're sick. I also wrote this while I was sick, but I didn't have a date.

Created on Analog Four for all synths and drums, Synthesizer V for vocals (ANRI Arcane), and Octatrack for arrangement and FX.

I had it in my mind this was "what a sick date?!" not "oh you're sick, on this date, huh." Definitely the latter after listening.

nice!

Beautiful melody, interesting drum patterns - love the snare! Cool breathy and croaky vocals too

I've heard Analog Four makes for a good drum machine and indeed it kicks really nicely. There's a lot of variety there, too in the track! I'm using Rytm myself, so Elektron flagship represent ✊🏻

Nitpick: to me the snare at the beginning sounds like it hits too early.

Yeah I also use the Rytm, though not in this track. It's a lot of fun especially since the 1.7 update. Much easier to use than the A4. I was forcing myself to use the A4 for a track to see if I want to keep it since I haven't been using it much.

It indeed is microtimed early! (Intentionally)
