The beat has the aphex twin-esque ilzxc signature, with super tasty, very well mixed rhythm that take you in. The piano lines are beautiful. I love the space in this track.

layering/panning with delay is lovely.
colorful, understated melodies.
supple, clean textures abound.
those hushed reverb treatments (left channel @ 1:23! right channel @ 1:33!) are like hidden pockets of bioluminescent fungus
valve-like filter percussion is the perfect complement to all the lush melodic work.
did not expect the rhythmic changeup at 2:45!
expert landing.
I feel like I just danced in zero G.

strong Midsummer Nice Dream vibes, and I mean that as a huge compliment.
(holy shit, is that a Mark Fisher sample...?? you must have had a hell of a week...)

really good

reminds me of the more lowkey sides of deadmau5's while 1<2 ?  (not sure of your opinions on him, but i love the album, so that's a compliment)

I love the elements that sneak up; you don't notice, until you do, like "how long has that been going?".  like the pressing DTMF-sounding chopped tones 3min in.

More like bratbest, amiright?

Glitched into perfection. Thanks for bringing me back.

Dad jokes are the wurst.

Love these unions - props @jimmac too - sounding great post-processed over here.

enjoying this in a very good quality over my livingroomstereo. everything sounds very good.

Kick is tough

Snappy and spacious. Nice work!

Brilliant piece. I love hearing the piano ivory connect with the wooden frame at the start.  Masterful use of the m8, appreciate so much for sharing the files.

That old jimmac song wouldn't happen to exist anywhere online... you know just to round out story time. wink

All the good bits are jimmac's but very grateful at the afx comparison! heart

Aw, jeez, thanks. I've had a mostly coughing type week and frustrations that I had to do speedtrash Sunday before last due to COVID, sample's courtesy of jimmac's original (as is the expert landing). It was a weird climb w/ 3 weeks between gesceap & wangus, then figuring some stuff out but not having consecutive productions to show for it...

Oh right, forgot I detuned the piano for that little anxious movement and yes it sounds like DMTF. Deadmau5 is a great producer -- compliment appreciated.

I'm taking complete credit for reaching out and telling you both to get on this WB business, this has been dope af.

heart Thank you, Q-Rosh, love your productions. I have some notes for what I want to fix in this one, though smile

M8 has 2 ENV and 2 LFO per every instrument, been trying to spice up one-shots and maybe getting somewhere -- much love for liking the kick heart

Whoaaa, means a lot coming from you (but the spacious brilliance is all jimmac), I have some catching up w/ your work to do!

All good bits are jimmac's (and the M8 file's tables on the piano chops are all carried over from the original.

I didn't want to link before asking, but after obtaining permission... Around the time referenced in the write-up, my favorite shit was jimmac's The Sphere and Noggin's Corrosion that I mentioned in the (barely different) writeup of my noggin's remix. I was just telling noggin how infreriority-inducing and scary it was trying to start making tunes while those two were making proper music.

Dope

Both of those are incredible songs. Thanks for sharing.

Fantastic rework of an amazing song, you have such a great way of re-working these tracks, thanks for sharing the story, that is really cool how you all know each other from the past and the influence they had on you.

oh my word the story - wow & heart

i like the de-tuning detail a lot

listened to jimmacs first then this

felt like this

The glitchy beats and the spacey, floaty textures combine in a very satisfying way.

Hugeness, floating my dome then shaking it around with the skittering percs. The kick and bass worked for me to hit where they needed to hit, love the piano. I thought of massive attack early on a little. Such a cool story too, love that.

Awesome song(s), story, and payoff―I'm very glad that all three of you are in WB.  You've been a creative power block all year, and it's lovely to see how deep those roots go back.  The story also makes a strong case toward providing music resources in high school (or at least enabling kids to install their own tongue).

Haha I did the same thing, although it also made for a slight uncanny valley feeling near the beginning that felt a little like this

(although much more pleasant.)

Listening to ilzxc rhythms tends to make me feel slightly smarter and more sophisticated (and maybe a little glitchier).  I can't make anything remotely like that―but damn, do I feel cool when I hear them.

Such a small world, it's interesting to hear how people in this community know each other outside of weeklybeats and are all on here taking on the weekly challenge. Gets me hyped. Great track too, I love the beat on this in particular.
