A house tune for @noggin's show; UPDATE: a better version w/ @noggin's vocal reworking is available and I think it's better.

Made with: a whole lot of Chase Bliss Tonal Recall RKM feedback delay effects [leads, fx] + a little M8 sequencing [drums / song structure] + SubLab and a whole lot of distortion.

M8 Instruments:
* BASSICZ
* ACCIARP2

so much midrange cronch!
the BBD action is fun.
filthy hats have me craving something greasy.
I dig all the slippery squelches.
I hope you're doing well.

Hype weird inspires me to do 4x4 breaks, dope squeaks and grimey bass, distorted noize sounds like all the anxiety one feels when a child laughs at you

That beat! Simple and super efficient, really made spicy with all the samples and exotic sounds you use there. Good hypnotic rave music!

holy crap this is so good.  your take on four on the floor still has this sonic insanity that I have come to expect in your work!

just imagine dancing on a suspended dance floor that's about to collapse at any moment.

god the loose timing on 2:54 was so scary and awesome.

everyone is at the club, but then Jason Vorhees accidentally showed up and the one person he's after just made eye contact with him but everyone is still dancing because it's a halloween dance party and why should anyone expect that anything's wrong and if that one person is freaking out and trying to leave that's their problem no need to call security this beat is sick keep dancing i'm sure they'll be okay and they'll certainly not get murdered in the restrooms, right?

(I appreciate the extended outro because DJs need the lead time)

Whoa... bad ass beat! Love the laser beam drop in the beginning before the heavy kick joins in.  Cool hat work. The synths are purrring!

Listened to both versions, squelchy scratchy sounds, hypnotic and wonky, like the slight looseness in timing, super infectious and propulsive. 3:50 or so in this version is a killer change.

I suck at responding to comments -- feeling like I'm always failing to hear everything amazing folks are doing here.

You are right, this does appear to be the second squeakiest track I did this year so far...

Thank you! Means a lot because your grooves slam hard. (This is my first house track kinda ever, never ever finished one before.)

gesceap wrote:

I thought it sounded like laughter too -- all lead is based on a single accidental recording of messing about w/ an analog feedback delay (time-corrected, since the pitch changes are due to tweaking the "TIME" knob).

Thank you for nailing the perfect genre name. (At the risk of sounding creepy, checked to see if you posted pics of Nickels in Discord and am now proud to be inspiring that particular rat -- looks like the best pal to have!)

Thank you! (Didn't really set out to be this way, but most of the samples are self-made -- apart from the drums, everything else is a lucky accident involving an analog delay pedal...)

They may have retired, but the stomp stomp has not! Thank you!

iHz wrote:

I don't fully understand why it sounds like spinning, but I get a sense of rotation also, been trying to recreate it from-scratch, but for now not successful. (It irks me when a sound does a thing I can't recreate...)

orangedrink wrote:

Jeez, thanks. I have complicated feelings about making a pitch-bendy-no-grid mess w/ a delay and then correcting it w/ Ableton -- it doesn't seem like any kind of timing I would come up with to earn a compliment... (That section was the first thing I started w/ and worked mostly backwards.)

Probably a darker reading than I was going for, but since you're asking -- it was all a misunderstanding, the person Jason Vohees was after dropped his fanny pack, and Vorhees wanted to return it because he saw there's a passport inside and replacing those is a massive pain in the ass. That's why Jason knew what the person looked like. Squeaky squeak. Carousel.

heart I'm ... thinking way harder than you probably intended about the notion of "chaser" vs. "no chaser" in tracks, particularly as second-guessing some "having a chaser" decisions caused me to delay a track and post speed-trash this week. It's a silly wording, perhaps, but I think communicates something valuable -- thanks for this.

zpeisman wrote:

Thank you! (Between you and I, I think "varied" is mighty kind about the overly-looping first section that I ran out of time with...)

I'm really grateful for the word "wonky" -- the 3:50 change you're referring to was the very first thing I made that I found "convincing." Feeling hella heard -- thank you! heart
