You've been on a sound design rampage since picking up that habit―everything from 2:40+ is soundtrack-worthy.

Not sure if this is the right way to to articulate it, but you're also getting very good at sonic build-ups and reversals.

oh yeah this gets real tasty around the 2 min mark
like some angry collective ghost (granular?) fiddler
sounds almost acoustic
I like how when it threatens to repeat it gets all self-conscious and dissonant before it gets pretty and melodic again
I enjoy these kind of structurally looser contributions; it seems like you have a couple of lanes going this year like I do. this is the lane I want to spend more time in for sure.

this is wild stuff, keeps me on edge the entire time

That was a trip. It was like all the synapses of my brain were firing off in sporadic bursts. Oh and listening to it loud was definitely good for the immersion.

Love the buildup. But you know I'd pierce it with a kick wink

The beginning is really intense and feels like an unending buildup.  When it finally releases it's a relief but it feels like we're floating through an asteroid field or something.  The vibe is unsettling but really nice.

The very eventful journey through space
- Ebrit

Something about the delay and skins, repetition, makes you reflect. Reflecting on time series

Belated? Right on time!

So many magic accidents of your magic fingers on the knobs. Really a wild trip through the plasma.

yeah, so many layers of anticipation does not disappoint roll credits!

Love how this evolves and covers so much ground with a clear unifying thread despite such varied terrain. I agree with others about the sense of anticipation and foreboding. The first part of this reminds me a bit of Tim Hecker (a very positive thing). Then these beautiful unexpected changes around 2 min and 2:40. A very enjoyable listen.

this felt other worldly - or like the sound i imagine jellyfish make to communicate with each other

really neat sound design!

This track is a nice journey into a large digital ocean, with electronic fishes and holographic animals. The combination of the smooth layers, the glithc and the delay really make for a very cinematographic track. Hypnotic, intriguing, deeply alien.

first 5 seconds: oh awesome

looks at running time: oh thank god

Don't mind me, I'm just watching this on mute while listening to your track.

VOLUME CRANKED!!! synthetic hornets nest surrounding my studio! Definitely an alien species. Love the alternate forms of insect vocalization. You could build a good film sequence around this.

This definitely sounds like some kind of scifi cinematic soundtrack. It really steers the emotions. Well done!

To be completely honest: it's been pretty hard making stuff lately, something's off currently. It also been a turbulent time (death in the family) and the news cycle is also not helping. (Feigned was an outtake from recordings for this one, hence the title.) Anyway, this is turning into a bummer of a comment, my bad. Grateful for kind words. heart

I think "gets all self-conscious and dissonant" is pretty spot on about life, mood, depression, and creative energy. Couple of lanes I think is mandatory for me if I'm doing this every week for a year... smile

It did end up making a night drive to a Starbucks feel a bit haunted when I was testing it in the car... Thanks for listening!

Between you and me: I was really excited that Chase Bliss Warped Vinyl Mk2 pedal turns out is the best sounding drive I own (as long as you feed the signal in hot) -- I've not done enough work w/ it yet, but I've been mostly listening for how well the bass distorts through that thing, hence the "play it loud" comment. smile

The good and the bad thing about the kick is that once you put a kick in, you have to put a whole lot more or it sounds kinda stupid or cheezy... OH I SEE WHAT YOU MEAN! big_smile

Thanks a lot for listening, I really need to go back through your entire 2022 catalogue, I've been meaning to for a while and still have a lot of blue play buttons on your page.

(Or through a panic attack... But that's also a kind of a space, you're right.)

I'm grateful, but could also be it's a bit of a boring thing, so the mind wanders? Not as a self-knock, just been thinking about boring as something that has value & a function to it...

You're too kind -- no magic, just lots and lots of editing (and pitching stuff)...

Tim Hecker's a massive compliment. I made a lot more weirdo abstract / beatless music than stuff w/ beats, and this was an attempt to maybe try to figure out how to make things ... less weird. Kinda difficult to do this sort of stuff in a week, but tbh these last few weeks have been hard regardless of what I do. big_smile

Jellyfish is not a take I could have foreseen, but a take I'm genuinely excited about. One of my cherished childhood memories was seeing a jellyfish in the Black Sea and having my mind absolutely blown at the fact something like that existed and was alive. Happy to report I still feel the same about jellyfish.

Very grateful for associations w/ life (even if it's holographic).

Holy shit, my mind is blown. If you start my track and hit play on YouTube (from the top) when the track reached its 17th second, it's crazy how much serendipity there is. (The sync is to have them fall just as the intro crescendo ceases...)

smile I really lose my cool around hornets and wasps (irrationally so to a comical degree if they fly at my head / by my ear). And yes, I think this one would be better w/ a visual counterpart.

Oh man -- inspired by listening to your work! I find your productions to be hyper-focused and perfectly articulated. There were a few moments of rejecting various things in favor of just trying to develop what I had instead of adding other elements.

You're welcome!  Also that video is us when we first meet smile

Wow!  This is incredible!  So many surprises throughout the track.  Good Job!

Yes! I'm doing this now too. Fits

I may like your funky ass beats lane a little more, but this is dope for what it is, haunting alien scene no doubt.

Love this. The thing that sticks out to me the most with this piece (outside the impeccable sound design which is noteworthy across all your work) is the way in which you've used multiple effects that by design impart a lot of randomness. The way they are used here feels very deliberate and controlled. I hear a solid structure across the entire 5 minutes that feels intentional and composed. The takeaway for me from this piece is a lesson on how to use the things these tools generate for texture, tension, and body while simultaneously not letting them 'make the music'. Beautiful work, as always heart

Love the shifting harmonic tension a minute in and then moves into almost Autechre type territory.  Very cool track!
