(I'm away visiting my grandma for her 90th birthday; this one's rough and unfinished)

Could have fooled me, it doesn't sound rough or unfinished. The beat seems very complex and involved and there's a lot of sonic nuances throughout.

happy birthday grandma!
once again you remind me I need to work on my sample library. the serrated woodsy beat confuses me pleasantly, and that second section is excellent - the slippery chord against the drone is delicious. deep fried outro is as crunchy as it is tidy. great work.

Happy 90th to your grandma!

Agreed.  It doesn't sound rough so much as a return to the howtf-did-ilzxc-know-he-could-make-that-into-a-beat-and-whytf-does-it-work sound from early/mid Q1 (which sort of ingrained itself into my ears as the WB-only genre of only-ilzxc-and-maybe-wangus-can-get-away-with-this―hyphen-heavy stuff).

The beat gets pretty infectious as it goes along, and―although I can't know what went unfinished—I caught myself mentally inserting a wiper sound in a few spots. tongue

You are really good at creating dense and complex percussive parts that still have solid groove, and this is anther great example of that. Definitely got my head bobbing. Love the 0:55 to 1:40 section and the whistles in the following part. Enjoy your time away with family! heart

great sound design, really amazing use of textures.

Fun beat. That rolling bass is filling up all space nicely.

wonna see your grandma dance to this on her birthday. that would be a surprise.

The rhythms are varied and a lot of fun and I like the background bird sounds or whatever they are.  It makes me feel like I'm out in the jungle or something.  Also the high-pitched sound that kicks in right before the 1:00 mark is awesome.

Agree with this comment. Complex but with a distinct and solid feel to the rhythm. An enjoyable listen.

That bass is rad, very cool tune!

well - i've had your presets song earworming in my head for weeks now... this may have just displaced it - time will tell smile

very celebratory piece - HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOUR GRANDMOTHER!

Killer beat and that bass hits hard

I like how I immediately knew this was your song before checking my wb tab. I love the funky chopped up bird call noise, really bad ass beat as usual- going to be showing this one to my rats for sure

Love the intensity builds in this one, contrasting the more catchy parts preceding them. Sweet pad at the end too!

The beat is really nice, with the stutter and slight breaks. What makes this beat for me though are the background sounds that really set a stage - it sounds like weird animals sometimes, and a large undulating rubber band at other times. Hypnotic dance of alien animals on a distant planet.

Ah yes, feeling this groove and those sounds wiggle there way around my dome in a delicious manner. This goes good places, yes indeed.

i think I can see where you’re thinking with this being “unfinished”

really good elements, it stands on its own as-is, but I can see how it could be explored further.  e.g. the dirty chords at the end feel like a midpoint to me

You may call it unfinished but what I hear is a lot of space for those bad ass beats and glitchy synths to flex! Really cool melodic chords at the end bring it home nicely. Congrats to grandma!

Sick beat! I really dug the ending with those chords!

Didn't get to this last week.  This is a serious groove.  Meat beat manifesto-esque.  So good.  You can always bring out so much. musicality from a minimalistic track.  Great job.

Tense! Squeaky! Jams hard on crappy speakers so I'm way into it.
Love the Orbital resolution break down at the end.

Your grandma got beats!

Damn how do you make those sounds?

LOL EXACTLY

ALSO shoutouts to Wangus to being part of the ilzxc&wangus SonicInsanityDuo™

wangus, I gave you a shoutout above.  also agreed on the midpoint comment.  I could see running through the arrangement variations with the chords increasing in volume and maybe slight changes

happy birthday grandma ilzxc!

i love the idea of “WB-only” genres, probably accurate
