Sorrow on the Seven Seas

By iHz on June 5, 2022 8:31 pm

Fun little track that I started last weekend. It's supposed to be a kind of looping track in a game. It kinda sounded like a sad sea shanty to me so I came up with the name "Sorrow on the Seven Seas". I started making a version of this in LSDJ as well and planned on releasing both for this week's entry but I just didn't have time to finish the LSDJ version.

I'm behind on making videos for my tracks and listening to last week's tracks. It has been a week... I'll get caught up soon hopefully. Hope you all had a great week!

A [i]chip shanty[i]?  I remember you saying you wanted to branch out last week, but didn't expect that. tongue

I'm not that good with LSDJ, so it's hard to imagine tracking the same song on LSDJ and M8 simultaneously―especially in the same week.  If you don't mind sharing: how long does it generally take you to create a track on both?  Is there a big difference between them in the time/difficulty it takes?

I love this, it's taking me on a voyage on pixelated waters

LSDJ is definitely slower than M8. Some of that is b/c I'm more used to the M8 and it has some nice shortcuts etc... but the biggest difference is shifting things around to fit into the game boy's 4 voices. That limitation can add a lot of complexity lol!

Thank you so much!

This is delightful, I've been talking about your leads w/ a friend because of how simple & attainable they are. I wonder what other genres you can iHz-ify smile

(Love the "piano" part, would be interested in hearing the LSDJ version to hear how you address those chords.)

If you ever want to share a bundle I'd love to peak into how you do this stuff.
Love the melodies as always. Definitely monkey island vibes
