Ode 2 Aran

By iHz on January 23, 2022 11:58 pm

I was going for a lonely Metroid-ish feel with this one (hence the name haha). I also added some uplifting kind of melodies to kind of add that glimmer of hopefulness and triumph. I wish I'd had a bit more time to clean this up more in post but I'm still reasonably happy with the end result.

Lovely nostalgic melodies!

Chiptune! You get a quite a fat and nicely fuzzy bass there! What are you using to make this? Gameboy hardware?

Thank you! Yeah I'm using Gameboy hardware and a piece of software called LSDJ. I really liked the fuzzy/glitchy bass effect I was able to get for this track.

Sounds quite glorious

Metroid vibes are great and are not to be ignored, but the real highlight is your melodic writing is top notch. heart

Aww thank you! I really appreciate that! heart

The verse + melody is GLORIOUS and just the right blend of purpose + mystery + melancholy that it would have tickled my NES-era imagination for years.

I know this because it's doing it right now.

Thank you! I was really going for that mystery/fear/loneliness vibe (typical of Metroid) with this track as well as a shot of NES nostalgia haha. I'm glad that came through smile
