Sick ballad

By horatiuromantic on April 19, 2026 9:25 pm

Sick ballad - on piano, looper, and electric guitar.

One take performance (with looper on footswitch) of a mini composition I made today mostly to not lose my weeklybeats streak, but I really wasn't feeling it today. I'm glad I did it, as always, and I am looking forward to hearing your impressions.

As you might notice in the video I have a host of new toys that I couldn't really fully enjoy because of this mild flu and some other minor drama that happened this week (minor heartbreak shit). But hey, the important thing is that the WB fam is here for me, and also I have nice friends that I can call up for some emotional support. So thanks for that!!!

That a nice relaxed jam, very soothing.

yo this is lovely and sad. great rainy day music.
hope you feel better soon!

Beautiful and spacious--loving the open-endedness of this improv, and the shift in focus from piano to guitar is smooth. Nicely done!

sick ballad indeed. very nice, im in awe of your abilities! hope you feel better soon

Thank you! yes, it could also go well with a rain sample (most music would tbh)

thank you! i like to keep it open ended and surprise myself. I didn't expect to manage to play the melody on guitar but I did! it will be fun to get better and faster on guitar

hehe thank you for the kind words!

This sounds like a rainy day, where you had plans that got cancelled, you don't need to go anywhere, and so you just brew some tea and decide to curl up under a blanket and read while the rain cleanses the world outside. I really like how the guitar sneaks in, and I hope things in your life start to get more positive!

this is so beautiful! love that piano tone, and love how the guitar comes in

Exactly what I felt when I started listening smile

This is wonderful, Horatiu. Sometimes those messy times are what create the sweetest treasures.. But it can be tough to appreciate in the moment. Hope you're feeling better heart

may you have comfort in your heart and body as you heal heart
this is a very cozy ballad

The Yamaha YC61 sounds really nice. The looping threw me off at first while just listening tongue
Once I realized what was happening, it clicked. Nice improvisation session. I used to do a lot of this kind of thing years ago. Really lovely way to play and improvise.
