If you forget, remember

A text that's about two years old, containing my usual reflections on the self, big/small problems, and life. Performed with an improvised electric piano track and vocals. First recorded take, but tried finding some various harmonies first.
I went very freeform on purpose, mainly cause I didn't have time to spend on composing it for real, but I think even like this it could go better with more practice and a fresh take earlier in the day. The vocals def go pretty far from in-tune sometimes, but actually this is the best take of the ~3 I did. But I did consider this, since on a previous track someone mentioned how I could use some vocal tuning oh well!
It's a totally low effort jam, but I tried to give it a nice sound and mood. And I think the focus on this one is the interpretation of the lyrics. I think the lyrics can be reused in a new composition, altho as usual this might stick.
Hope you enjoy it!

I spent all my life building up
for some kind of abstract future
where finally I'll be where I need to be
and live the life I was always meant to live
but all of a sudden
reading some book or other
I realized this is it
there is no next, no future life
I'll never be where I need to be
more than right now, right here
more than I've always been
I look fondly to the past
to great memories and moments
and I look hopeful to the future
with puppy eyes of excitement
but I'm already where I need to be
I always was, I'll always be
and it hasn't sunk in fully yet
but what if there's nothing else?
I don't want to live forever
with one eye on the prize
I'm already here
it's already now
live already this is it
live already here I am
live
(or live, depending on how you read it)
Don't look away
if you forget, remember
question everything but don't take too long
life may be meaningless but it doesn't mean it's not worthwhile
when tragedy strikes close to you
it's easier to grasp
and when it strikes power
it's hard for it to last
we can get more connected
and closer together, even when physically apart
random chance can cause us pain
let's not rely on it for pleasure
for good things to come to life
we all have many choices
that lead everywhere, like ants
we can sow chaos and death spirals
we can also build bridges
and protect our nest
where have we gone wrong?
at every tragedy we ask ourselves
but soon we forget
the daily choice we're able to make for good
Don't look away
if you forget, remember
