HEL (Hydrasynth Explorer Live)

By horatiuromantic on August 28, 2022 5:45 pm

A live performance from HEL using my new Hydrasynth solo. Super excited about the synth, gonna be fun to do more stuff with it and also bring it to jam sessions and such. I played with the factory patches and this one caught my ear because it had the running bell while holding notes, so I built a song around that. I still need to learn it better so I can express what's in my head more immediately - in this track you might notice how sometimes I have an idea that would fit a certain place but only appears around 2 bars later because I am struggling to set up all the settings for it on time.

Comes with a live video! The succulent is nearby, its aura ever present.

I also started posting stuff to my musician instagram @horatiuromantic for those who want to follow my braindumps and little jams that may not always be full tracks smile I am keeping it fairly business, as I don't wanna be pulled into obsessing over followers and stuff, but I figured it's nice to share more publicly and it's what a lot of people do.

Wow, this way different from the tracks I tend to think of from you.  Sounds great, though.  Someone was just recommending the HEL to me the other day, and from this track I can definitely tell where they were coming from.  Judging by your writeup, it sounds like a lot of work to master.

Thank you for this warning

Awesome man, some seriously cool sounds in here.  Almost got a Hydrasynth a few years back (went with a Modal Argon8 instead), but would definitely love one.  Very cool instrument and it looks like you're going to be doing some really awesome stuff with it.

It was fun watching you playing the synth. you created a dark and expressive track. the sounds are really great.

Thanks for the comment! I feel it's easy to have fun with the Hydrasynth, even without getting in too deep into the features. I feel like it's a proper instrument, very different from just piano or a keyboard with a bunch of sounds. I'm learning a lot from it about synths in general, and it has a great dynamic range altho that part is harder to master, but not any harder than any other instrument like a sax or so I imagine big_smile

Thanks for the comment and for the ref about the Argon8. Will be keeping an eye out, seems like an interesting one, people tend to like its sounds even more than the Hydra.
