Berlin Bounce

By horatiuromantic on May 9, 2022 12:01 am

Kickin it in Berlin with some old and new friends.

Not quite a song, not quite a poem, not quite coherent at all.

Collaboratively written by me, Ivan, Nomi, Dash, Oda, Ali, Julie, Dario, Gabriel, and a bird (I didn't get her name).

Enjoy.

Very poetic, I like the comprehensibility especially.

How come the outtake of the poem is processed the same as the rest? (Genuinely curious about this choice.)

didn't have time to think about that hahah.
I liked the feedback tail so I had to have the effect throughout.
But the poem and the last bit was recorded under a bridge so there was heavy reverb to begin with.

I think it's brilliant, regardless of the effort it took: there's the poem, commentary about the poem (a joke about pretentiousness), but since everything is processed the same, the "pretentiousness" joke forms a conundrum. So however I would want to interpret it -- that your art made the mundane weird permanently, or that the art is NOT, in fact, as pretentious because that's just how all of the spoken words sound in whatever world you occupy -- both are satisfying. I know it might seem like over-analyzing, but when you give me a poem + a 4th wall break + an FX applied the same way to both, it's akin to a sentence w/ two contrasting nouns + an explicit application of the same adjective to both -- kinda compelling even w/ boring ass words: "an empty shot glass, an empty saucer."

a nice document and piece of art. The reverb fx is awesome and gives it a special feel.

That's an original one - poetry reading, amplified with the reverb effect!
