Far from Yesterday

Hope everyone is having a good Mother's day (in the US, at least).

I built a Dann Huff style strat (sans midboost, I have 3 gain stages in my pedal chain, 2 are midboost) and had to do something late 80's and sparkly.  I recut the guitar parts in Reaper and sang the vocals into the DAW but all of this - as usual - was sequenced on the M8.  All Synth sounds are Native M8.

I was lazy on the vocal delay send and just left it on, normally would have automated to hit the gaps only, but it sounded cool so leaving it.

Guitar Solo - I accidentally played a David Gilmour solo, was gonna change it, then thought it sounded good and decided to keep it.  I'm testing out Scuffham S-Gear settings, but I just bought a new amp - Suhr Bella - expect to hear a lot of that moving forward once I get it dialed in.

Key Modulation!  Rickety but dramatic, santana blues bend over dominant to new key.  I hated it at first then it grew on me.

Here's lyrics:

If not for my foolish pride
I wouldn’t have nothing left
No stones to haul nothing to cut away

If anyone’s on my side
like anyone could forget
or roll me in to some yesterday

Be myself when it’s all that I got, I been looking to find my way
It doesn’t matter now, we’re so far from yesterday

Whenever the lights get low
and ever the night grows long
and shadows linger on shape I’m in

I’m not gonna wish I know
I won’t have to right some wrong
Or dream about what could have been

Gaaaaah, so good. That chorus hook is great, love how it lifts. Love how it rips into the solo after the bridge. Maybe a little Gilmour, but I'm here for it. smile Simple and tasty, great arrangement, amazing as usual heart

You have an excellent voice.

Nice song. Sounds really hits that 80's aesthetics.

I really like the delay on the vocal chain, it works super good.

I am not great of a guitarist, when I do record solos I always put tons of saturation on it, I should at least try to record a clean guitar solo before the end of the year.

Rock!
