idle fictions

vocals are too sibilant which is bugging me.  weirdly, used a sock last week as pop filter.  which seems to have worked a fair bit more than an actual pop filter.  I forgot that the rode nt1a does that to my voice.  oh well.

guitars all in open c

verse guitars are a dry gen loss part doubled with a lush golden reverberator take.

the verse is somehow giving Weezer vibes.  which was never the intention.

really wanted a lazy verse guitar and huge chorus sound.   distortion provided by a chase bliss automaton and a polar bear drowner

think I'm going to migrate to logic next week to see how I feel with it.  using Ableton for more straight up guitar songs feels like not the most flexible route.

happier with the vocals overall, which has been my WB26 goal.

really been enjoying using the bass vi to sit in the mix

vocals sound really good to me, i don't think it's distracting

gen loss pedal on this?  LOVE IT  I used mine on my WB this week as well

this is so good and beautiful

you rock!  downloaded and favorited

The part at 1.25 gave me butterflies. The part at 2.05 gave me goosebumps.

Your production skills are getting pretty good!

I feel you improved a lot compared to early 2024 songs. Very nice grungy track. I feel I am back to the early 2000's smile

Very well built track. Bravo!

oh wow, holy moly. I immediately loved the vocals; the closeness, the layering -- then the chorus hits and I'm thrown to 1999. beautiful stuff man! great harmonies!

Ahah you shouldnt have said it now I can also hear the Ssss in the vocals. Sounds good generally otherwise or if I try not to focus on it. Maybe you could also eq or something...??? I usually put a neve 1073 from uad and cut highs on that if I want less of this sound, not that I know for sure what im doing or if I even have this problem. But i have the same mic and I have def encountered the issue. Not every time tho...

Another way is to sing louder and further from the mic, tbh the best way in the long run.

Great composition and guitar btw!

Socks always make for great filters. Cheap, too.
Chill vibes here.

The vocals on this sound great! I didn't notice the sibilants at all, even after reading your description!

This is such a richly written song. The dynamic shift between verse and chorus is done very well! The overall tone and sound of the whole mix is also great as per usual with your weeklybeats. This is a really wonderful song!!
