not much to say about this one. something simple to contrast last week's entry. taken from an older file, a simple chord sequence/arpeggio. swapped out the sounds and did a bunch of editing, layering, mixing and then did the same again.

i've had too many tracks on the go this month, which i guess is good, but we're supposed to just focus on one per week? or make something brand new every week? i'm not sure so i'll just do what i do - which is to always have multiple tracks on the go at any given time. i don't have a linear workflow at all. i mostly just wanted to use this project to make sure something is finished and out the door every week.

so january is done! see you next week smile

Really enjoyed this, felt very cozy during

Has a bright northern lights vibe

Feeling the warmth on this one. Non-linear represent!

Really well done balancing the amount of change and modulation to keep it fresh without losing its simplicity. It kept me engaged the whole way through. Perfectly portrays the atmosphere of the photo in the description.

It is a nice relaxing piece of music. Like it

yeah beautiful track!  very enjoyable.

It's really cool. This would have been really hard for me to not add percussion to. I mean, the track is so good that you could go so many different directions with it.. and they could all have such different vibes.. but It also totally stands on it's own.. which is awesome and fascinating to me. It definitely makes me feel like I probably am trying to do too much in my tracks.. But I also feel like this track is probably doing a LOT of subtle things.. It just doesn't feel crowded or overwhelming, while still feeling quite complex. I like it a lot.

ahh it's true. lots to say here. this did have a few layers of a clicky percussion thing but i scrapped it in favour of simplicity. i wanted all the timbral variations to come through clearly and the clicks were kinda obscuring it. it does bother me just a little to put out a track with literally NO low end. pretty hard to get new elements in tune with a track like this as the tuning of the main sample "instrument" is all over the place. so it kinda had to just be this, or else turn into something that would take a lot longer to produce, which kinda defeats the purpose.

on a personal note ultimately i think this was a good choice for week 4 - if january did have a "theme" it was that each week's track contrasted the last in some way. week 1 - chill vibez, simple beat, hidden subtle details; week 2 - chaotic, frenetic beat with everything right up front; week 3 - simple beat again, over-the-top maximalist layering with tons of hidden stuff, and super bass heavy; week 4 - relatively simple palette, entirely hi- and midrange, subtle details but not hidden. tldr- thanks for your comment and yes definitely sometimes less is more, but there are so many great ways to make tracks smile

Magical, creates a sense of wonder, I got lost in it. Fits with the picture so well, that feeling of looking out at an intriguing landscape with the light just right. Thank you. I like reading about your process. I have multiple things going at once too, WB is so great to actually get one of the out the door, which always feels good.

really enjoyed this track, felt wintery and yet welcoming. nicely done!

Love how bouncy it all feels. Lovely panning
