So I hung up

Volume levels are a bit out of whack (sorry), but just wanted to capture a little two minute idea.

I love Raymond Carver, and because my copy of the Dune trilogy is too heavy to read anywhere except at home, I've been carrying a copy of Cathedral when I go out. Carver has this way of capturing the everyday that I find really poignant and genuine. Today's title comes from the story Feathers:

I'd never met Bud's wife, but once I'd heard her voice over the telephone. It was Saturday afternoon, and I didn't have anything I wanted to do. So I called Bud to see if he wanted to do anything. This woman picked up the phone and said, "Hello." I blanked and couldn't remember her name. Bud's wife. Bud had said her name to me any number of times. But it went in one ear and out the other. "Hello!" the woman said again. I could hear a TV going. Then the woman said "Who is this?" I heard a baby start up. "Bud!" the woman called. "What?" I heard Bud say. I still couldn't remember her name. So I hung up. The next time I saw Bud at work I sure as hell didn't tell him I'd called.

I like this little episode of life, how much it says about the person without telling it explicitly. Nice positive track to start the week. smile

Haha, a great little snippet and a lovely little ditty.

Really pretty beat. Nice and chill smile

So nice! Lovely melody, I think to a easy cloudy afternoon and watching birds. I wonder, will you do guitar songs this weekly beats?

Fun and relatable story snippet, and the song is pretty and relaxed with a positive vibe to it.  Nice stuff.

Supernice shortstory and a beautiful track.

Smooth build up. Very warm and crisp sound.

love the excerpt!

and how your music matches the vibe

Love the groove of this. You really made a deep stride into the chill synth vibe

Excellent soundtrack to a very relatable story smile

This beat is really smooth. I like it. Thanks for sharing the excerpt. This reminds me of embarrassing moments from mu childhood where I forgot the name of the person I was calling. I just had the number but no name written. The horror of it.
