BitBuckets (Skins v Chips)

I'm continuing with 3-week compositions with 1-week milestones.  I had the idea to take a familiar style and bittify it by making a Chiptune-voiced funk piece.  I found some excellent funk drum groove MIDI files at http://www.musicez.com/funkrp.html

I used those then make a chiptune drum set that would sound chippy, but still close enough to an acoustic set in spirit that the funk piece would be convincing.  This week is pretty lackluster as it's a series of 2-bar drum patterns with the original acoustic kit followed by the chip-kit playing the same pattern.

I think I have the kit nailed down.  Next week I'll have some voices made up for the other instrument sections: saxes, trumpets, bass, hammond and possibly rhythm guitar.

A solid start.

great idea, maybe you can take this further and juxtapose all the instruments back and forth with 8bit as well
