Picked up by the neck

By haleja on February 4, 2024 7:28 am

Oh Jeez, another week down already!
Only used a neck pickup for guitar tracks this week. Not super familiar with single coil pickups so figured it would be a worthy exercise. I've also been practicing my alternate picking which is where the sextuplet semiquaver riff came from - something that when usually played on a guitar (in a rock/metal context) is coupled with serious saturation and use of a bridge pickup. I figured using a low gain tone + neck pickup combo could be interesting.

Thanks for checking it out smile

Haha, as a non metal person this sounds super metal to me. But maybe like a jazzy metal? "Metazz"

AW FUCK YEAH, MAN!!! This is AWESOME!!! Damn, you've done a wonderful job embracing the heavy metal feel here. Also when the guitar breaks into "solo-mode" around 1:20, it's so good!!! Awesome job, super well done!

YESSS the screaming guitar! awesome. had to come comment after 1min. guitar solo is nice too, uses the theme, it's cool. fast pedal drums also cool.

Woohoo, compelling people to leave comments! haha. Thanks for listening!

Neck pickup is honestly just so nice, it's so full and it shows here, like the song means business. You can play around it for a bit, but at the end of it, it knows it's in charge.
