Aspiration, limitation.

Woah, what a week! Lots to unpack with this one.
It all started with a guitar lick I came up with but couldn't quite play (2:48). I haven't really played guitar for 4 months excluding the day or two to record last weeks track. Needless to say I have fallen out of practice!
This realization put me in a pretty frustrated headspace - disappointed in myself knowing that a couple of 30min sessions a week could have kept me well practiced. It was apparent that my musical aspiration was facing up against the limitations of my guitar playing, and thus, the inspiration for this track was found.
Track Notes:
Drums:
I played them on a Roland TD17 with the midi triggering Addictive Drums 2.
Guitars:
Used one guitar to record the lot. A 7 string with the low B dropped to A. Using a PodHD500x for a preamp and an IR loader in the DAW. Only effects are some spacey delay for added epicness and some reverb.
Clean guitar track is just DI'ed with a clean guitar amp from Ampire in Studio One.
Bass:
Used a 5 string with the same low B to A. Ended up with 2 main bass tracks, one more crunchy than the other.
The glitchy sounds at 0:30 and 1:45 is a simple slap bass line I recorded following the guitar tracks with heavy autofilters and some panning
Other:
At 1:20 I used the first free Hammond organ type SFZ I could find, which I fed through a guitar amp emulator then an autofilter.
Also added a simple Trumpet and Violin part for extra spice.
For guitar nerds:
The lick mentioned is a 4 note descending pattern, where every 4th note is the same as the previous but played on a different string creating a cool cascading sound.
