After a couple weeks off due to a health scare, I'm back again! This time with a more SIDish tune inspired by watching Avrilcadabra's video playing with MIDI on the C64. Actually I think most of the instruments I used this week are from her as well.
Though I'm mostly happy with the result, this tune sounds more sad and dour than I heard in my head. I think I both have the tempo too slow and am in the wrong mode. I'm always scared of sharps and flats, so I was tend to avoid them, but that really limits the mood I get out of my music. I also could have used some better transitions between sections. It clashes a bit right now. My descending arp didn't turn out exactly like I wanted and then I ran out of time at the end and obviously didn't even get to finish the final melody section I had, much less add a couple more I had planned on.
But I am happy I got a decent start on this. Between what I have now and the voice recordings of what I had planned, I could get this cleaned up and sounding much better when I have some time (like next year after WB is over).
Thanks for the inspiration and the instruments, Avrilcadabra!
