Luck Dragon's Gambit

By Graabthar on January 26, 2020 11:15 pm

With apologies to Mr. Nils Frahm.
This is a direct ripoff, ahem, homage.
Juno-6 fits perfectly on top of the Rhodes. smile
Mistakes left in so as not to offend the almighty Nils.
Always record your Juno in glorious STEREO.
Remember where you parked your Luck Dragon.

Definitely more of an homage, Nils seems to prefer lower BPMs. Real nice stuff though, the tempo creates a cinematic ambiance.

I saw Nils Frahm awhile back, what a mad man! I'd recommend anyone see him live.

Great track, there's a stellar 80's synthwave / John Carpenter vibe here too.

Kinda gave me some Kebu vibes too, thoroughly enjoyed!! Favorited.

Ultra-compelling groove and arrangement on this!  (Totally not a ripoff!)

(I just realized after I commented that the player had advanced to your week-3 track, and the two work really, really well together in this sequence!)

Pretty sweet, well done.

Thanks! The main seed of inspiration I took from Nils was the way he plays Juno arpeggios, and just pairing a Juno with a Rhodes, but I think I took it in my own direction. smile

John Carpenter is a big influence too! That's the 2nd time recently that someone compared my synth playing to him heart  I definitely want to do some straight up "80s horror sci fi soundtrack" stuff this year...
