Truth or Lies

Chad said you should tune your kicks to the 5th of your key... is this truth.... or lies??? Only WB can decide.

I tried that out on this one, and the kick is tuned a little higher than usual. I liked this chord progression so I just kinda went with it and built the whole song around it. I feel like something is missing when the main chorus comes in, but I'm not sure what. Any ideas? (did I overplay the chords beforehand?)

Anyways, enjoy! Not a huge banger this week but I tried to polish up this modest tune for you all. smile

Also, happy end of season 2 for WB 2026!

Happy end of season 2!

If the chorus is the section from 00:51 to 1:09, you could up the gimmick and re-tune the parts around the lead, build a phrase out of the tail of the pad (which itself could even bend) + retuned hats, then the cymbal could serve as a tonal palate cleanser. Contrasting with the key in some way which is already being reinforced by the pitches of the kick and the end of the lead phrase. Just spitballing at your question lol, I think the piece is good smile

Loving this tune, the strings swoon but the bass and beat keep it steady. So much fun. I would have thought you tune to the root of the key, but I’m a know nothing fool.
