Oof, it's been a while, but it's good to be back. We'll see if I can stick with it, lol. Happy New Year 2026! smile

Been trying to learn Bitwig over the last 6 months. Also, got a new sampler for Xmas, a Sonicware SmplTrek, so I initially tried to make this track on the SmplTrek. The beats and about half of the arrangement were done on the SmplTrek, but I cheated and finished it in Bitwig due to the amount of rearranging I had to do to get this track into a listenable state. All that aside, the SmplTrek seems awesome so far and I'm hoping to mash out more tracks with it this year.

The synths are a Roland S-1. Weird backwards thingy is some convoluted supersaw I made with a Behringer CAT routed into a TD-3-MO (303 clone). I spent most of my week trying to make that patch work, then basically didn't end up using it lol. lol

I put that funky flangery drum loop at the end in case anyone wants to sample it (consider that bit free to use). I created it by applying the SmplTrek's awesome flanger effect and then resampling and chopping the beat, so you're hearing a bunch of pre-flangered chops being retriggered. It gives the bass this super organic rhythm and pitch slide. It just sounds mesmerizing on my Koss Portapros.

Looking forward to hearing some weekly beats from old hats and newcomers alike! heart

Love the grit of this! Flanged beat sounds fantastic, and that beat hits.

Let’s go WB ‘26!

hefty & ominous bass!

really into the glitchy drums.

The bass and flanged sounds are great. I can imagine this as the soundtrack to an underground insect network like an ants nest or something...the zerg.

Dat bass though. Man, that's rich.

it's great to have you back, man!!!

I feel you when you mentioned the story of the CAT/TB3... I've just spent 3 days recabling some connections in order to be able to use a portion of my stompboxes that were out of reach from my current mixing desk... and just when I finished everything and spent a whole day testing it... Well, it turns out my test pattern was boring as f*ck!

Looking forward to what you get out of the SmplTrk... the lo-fi mode seems really interesting. Is the Roland S1, in your opinion, an interesting synth or just "meh"?

I'm glad you're in for another round of WB fun !!!

the low end on this is awesome
love the reverse stuff

Welcome back! I love the flange-y bits in this, gives it a nice flavour

Hey super glad to see you here! Really cool vibe, that first kick hits hard... the end is too soon and abrupt! haha but I know how things get wink
