winter's fade, spring ahead

another round of the dice game, i was down to 6 instruments not used, so i went to a traditional six sided die.

this rolled up some of my favorite instruments! my telecaster, hydrasynth, and also the field kit an experimental synth/mixer that has a radio tuner in it too. i was able to create an envelope that went from what i was playing on the hydrasynth effected the radio switcher somewhat subtly. i had the field kit feeding back into itself and the radio tuner wasn't pulling stations like it usually does, it was a crackly but interesting layer of rhythmic texture.

this piece is compromised of three performances layered through recording overdub. no loopers were used. the first recording was the hydrasynth drones and the field kit noise texture layer. the field kit was running into a red panda particle pedal which also was involved in the sound design.

the second recorded track was guitar, a fuzz and a distortion going through an old korg toneworks pandoras box pedal from the late 90s, which holds up surprising well somehow. some of the amp models i made as a young man are really fun to play today, very tight crunchy sound. the second time i had the fuzz and distortion after the digital modeler pedal, which sounded completely different altogether. the two setups complemented each other pretty well!

I will probably end up editing this down or making it two pieces but this is its raw form and it's at 128 kbps so pretty lofi i'd imagine.

i think this was heavily influenced or dedicated to one of my music heroes, Justin K Broadrick. he is recovering from major surgery right now and i was definitely thinking of him and how he's influenced my music over the years with his various projects, while making this. total genius.

I definitely can feel winter thaw in the second half
