george matt bowles - weekly beats week 1

By george bowles on January 4, 2026 7:13 am

for week 1 i used an arturia drumbrute impact with three 1/8" individual tracks going into three guitar pedals: a red panda particle, a Zoom MS-70CDR, and an Analogy analog delay, plus a quarter inch out of the rest of the mix including the kick drum. the drum machine is also triggering a few different virtual instruments! i then added two layers of stereo hydrasynth overdubs. i like how it turned out!

i have a ton of beats left over from this week if anyone wants to remix them and/or collaborate on a week.

drums are both analog and digital with emergent drums the digital part. enjoy or be annoyed!

atmospheric and trippy! nice!

Great scary bass at the start and atmosphere. Love the bloops later on!

very hypnotizing. i like those weird glitchy sound design elements thrown in there. nice pulsing rhythm

thank you so much for listening and for commenting! i ended up with 75 minutes of recorded beats from this session but at the last minute decided to just go with the first intended beat at the beginning and it worked out! what a wild ride to begin the year.

I like the hissy percussion and machine-like pattern. It feels like there's an orchestra playing on a half-tuned radio dancing around the edges of the stereo field, or am I hearing things? The random shots of delayed noise and beeps sound super cool against the main backdrop.

This is the legacy of the orb. Great hypnotic journey. Best wishes for 2026.

I like the fuzziness of all those layers. it's just what the mind needs while coding. I'm interested in dope drum loops if you got em for collab! chat me up on discord with em, same username!

PS: hydrasynth yeah!

excuse me this is very scary
that descending bass underneath other stuff is evil!

love it!

Ha that is kind of how I think of it too, I'm not sure how it sounds that way but maybe it's haunted electronica!

Y'know, I saw chemical bros touring their second album and the orb opened and they were inside of a pyramid with a projector on top! I did have one of their albums but I'd say or ital was more of an influence. But maybe they subtle influenced me! Probably did

I'm rarely ever on discord but I'll get on there!

Ha I love that! I'm glad you dig it, I'm from an industrial/punk/metal background so a lot of my stuff sounds dark or post apocalyptic future idk something like that hahaha

eerie!

Glad to see you back for another year, George. I can see you brought the noise and experimentation, as usual.

The beat around the 2:45 mark wouldn't be out of place in an early Throbbing Gristle release.

Wishing you a great 2026 to you and your machines smile

glad to be back and thank you so much! i look forward to WB26!

Love how this continues to unsettle, no resolve provided, pure punishing layers of driving noisy ear candy. That pulsing, detuned triplet bass sound at the front doesn't let up and is going to haunt me today!

oh wow hahahahha! Yeah I suppose I make music that is a window into my life, topsy turvy! Sorry for the nightmares, some are real for us humans. Ok it's not that bad at least I have gear.

A rambling psychedelic journey where drugs started a little intense and then they settled in and enjoyed the ride.
