is this punk?

probably not, but we have drums, base and a melody.  and a nice amount of distortion.  (i always seem to want more of that though. 🤔)

similar to last week, same beat, same setup, but the arp is the distorted (and new) thing this week.  played live as i do most times.  i still don't quite know how i want to play this setup, e.g. i had a pad ready and also wanted to play more of the melody, but was busy twirling all those knobs.

now that i think of it, i am missing the three chords for this to be punk.  (and maybe modular can't really be punk unless you do it like sam battle.)  ah well, it's quite fun to play with though!

Well, it doesn't match what I would traditionally think of when I imagine punk music, but I'm also inclined to think punk is more of a state of mind.  It could be said to be in the spirit of punk and maybe even qualify as something like electro-punk?  Either way, I enjoyed listening to it.

co-signed. was a fun listen!
and this great quote from someone who would know came to mind:

“Punk is not a sound for me. It’s not a style of music. It’s not a look. It’s not even an attitude. For me punk is the free space: It’s the place where new ideas can be presented without having to hew to profit motives.”
— Ian MacKaye

Maybe?

I got to thinking of the bouncy, sorta chaotic melody as a soundtrack for people in the pit, bouncing off each other. Maybe not traditional expectations of punk, but I’m here for it!

It's glam punk ☺️

didn't expect the bits of philosophizing here, thank you all for that!

makes sense to me, punk is not about rules after all.  i'll take the spirit, thanks!
