Fun idea. I'm down to submit as long as it doesn't land on Spotify... I boycott them Super down with BandCamp though.
Also, The Library Of MusicLandria would be a good fit for the charity since it focuses on supporting musicians.
Who started / runs this site? Do they have a profile that is participating this year?
Share alike is a creative commons thing which means people can share and remix your work provided they allow the same
Aww. Cool. Thanks
My track for this week is a live performance using a simple synth and an effects processor with no edits. I really enjoy working within constraints.
Nice. I'm also going for a no edits constraint this year
Write a share-alike song, next week, remix someone else's song.
What's a share-alike song???
Have you remix'd any songs by fellow Weekly Beaters?
Write a song for a teletactor.
Lyric Constraint / Concept:
"He took one look at what was under the table and noped the hell out of there."
Just hi hat for drum track.
Instrument limits. eg (use only 2 instruments)
Fixed chord progression. eg. use iii ii V I i
Fixed scale eg. use harmonic minor
Fixed time signature eg. use 6/8 time
Fixed tempo
iron chef style ingredient of the week: eg. must use maracas or trombonelots of possibilities, could add lots to a spreadsheet and randomly pick one each week
obviously if you don't like it, you don't have to use it, but could be a good starting point if you're stuck for ideas
Those are great! I imagine as more people post to this thread, we'll end up with a ton of inspiring constraint ideas. Will be fun to reference it as the weeks move forward.
* Only my voice as an instrument (as long as it's fun to do).
* 2 to 3 minutes range (maybe I'll go longer sometimes).
Rad. Looking forward to hearing your tracks.
How about a new random constraint each week for extra fun?
That's fun. Ideas?
Curious about what concepts / creative constraints other people might be considering for this years WB?
Here are some I'm thinking about. You?
1. 3 minutes max
2. Improv only
3. 3 beats per week -> 1 album per month
4. Just drums
5. Prioritize texture
I used to lurk and listen to ya'lls music since 2012 , finally gonna dive in myself this year
rad!
Did anyone take their ideas from 2020 and improve them in 2021? I wanted to, but totally didn't. If you did, comment with links.
