I just got:

Tokyo Dawn Labs Feedback Compressor II
&
Addictive Keys free version

I'm not a plugin junkie though. So I'm sure that'll do me.

Like any musical endeavour, not having good technique slows you down and inhibits creativity. Knowing your tools well is one of the best ways to overcome "I'll do it later", because they're not a hinderance. This applies to instruments and recording/producing tools equally.

I use a technique called productive procrastination, where when I am procrastinating I do so by working on something else that I need to do.

You can totally do the WB there and then upload on the way home on Monday morning. wink

ahaha! You have fun too, Chris! That sounds like a pretty full-on event. Are you playing or just hanging out?

We can't take any more applications to perform, but if you're interested in contemporary classical music/sound art, come along! It'll be a good day.

Hi All,

For those in Melbourne/Victoria (or willing to make the trek), I am co-organising a mini festival for new music and sound art, taking place on Australia Day (26/1/14). It is a casual social event aimed at getting together composers/sound artists/performers of new music and sound art. If you can make it, come along, otherwise, feel free to share! I'll be performing (probably my first three WBs), as will Faux Foe, and many other most excellent composers and musicians will be there.

Thanks. I somehow understood there was an unexplainable exception for acronyms. About the last case I think you mean elision, not contraction though?

For the third option, you are utilizing elision to create a contraction tongue
As an aside, I think the possessive form for multiple MP3s would be MP3s'

Admittedly this is not very important in an informal setting lol

The possessive would depend on whether it was the plural form or the singular.
Ie. The mp3's house smelled like a rusty ferret. <- singular
The mp3s' house smelled like the junkies for which it was built. <- plural.

Yes… not important in an informal setting. wink

Pretty sure I tag mine if I do the AIF to mp3 conversion in Audacity. If I don't, then I don't.

Melbourne here. I wrote this whole week off after going to Uni on Tuesday (for the air con) and being too wiped out from the lack of sleep the night before to focus on doing anything. Did a bit today at home, just hacking together some stuff in PD. I live right near the beach though, so that's been decidedly refreshing. And I must say, being far south of the CBD makes for slightly cooler top temperatures and probably slightly breezier nights. Smells like fire though, at the moment.

Good thinking, midi machine! Thanks. smile

Thought I'd post this here. It's awesome that you can quote comments now! If I recall correctly that wasn't there in 2012?
But there seems to be some problems? http://weeklybeats.com/#/music/view/xenak
Maybe it's just my browsers though. I tried Safari and G-Chrome.

The theme should be "music". Maybe a bit too broad though...

Sorry, I'm incapable of this right now.

vinpous: Big ups for Labelle's Background Noise and Resonanzen - these sit very proudly on my bookshelf.  Great books.  I must read Background Noise again, it's been way too long.

Have you read much Douglas Kahn? I've not got too far through Background Noise. Rezonanzen is fan-freaking-tastic, though. If it weren't prohibitively expensive I would buy a copy.

Yeah. It's not illegal, it's illegal to do without permission. (At least in Aus - USA is probably the same).
Get permission, credit where it's due and correct royalty split via the royalty collecting agencies should probably do it.
