I have immense sympathy with you, I live on the second floor of an old (for where I am) apartment building and none of the plug sockets except the one in the kitchen are grounded. My set up buzzes constantly and my wife vetoed my plan of driving a 12 foot copper spike into the ground and pouring 50 gallons of salt water over it and running an earthwire to my gear.

Have yhough thought about getting one of these

They are awesome little recorders and probably available used for well under 100 bucks.

I've thought about getting a small recording device for quite some time, just to take with me in case I hear a cool sound or whatever, you never know. Had no idea of what to look for though, thanks a lot.

this seems to work really well, a large amount of room noise is gone and i don't sound like im in a bathtub recording this shit anymore. didn't have a stand small enough for the mic so i just cut a small hole in a packing foam block to mount the mic in

Doing all my recordings in my bedroom on my desktop pc. The problem is that I get a lot of interference when I try to record things with the microphone. My computer fans are a bit loud but there isn't much I can do about that, any noise suppression tips or ways to make a room a better place to record when you are flat broke? I've heard bathrooms have great acoustics, but like I said I'm using my desktop for recording

So far this has been a super fun project for me (and hopefully that will continue). It seems it's just the right amount of pressure to spark creativity without being burdensome.

I scrapped what I was working on and started all over again. My toolchain has recently changed, so I'm getting into that awful point of time where I have an idea but I can't get to the sounds in time before the inspiration has flown the coop. I think I'll be OK. This weekend is probably going to be 40 hours of writing though smile

you described most of my week perfectly...and music writing career in general. This happened to me so much that I have days where I'll just work on patches or sample stuff just so it doesn't happen again.
