Heck yeah, shirts!

My second track had some bass... wink

I too have been thinking about better methods for CC.  It's granted that people will listen and comment to established artists with a following and such.  But kudos to the people who have managed to listen to every song and comment the large majority!  That's just a little out of the question most of the time - there must be a better way!  Maybe we could have buddies or groups on different weeks that critique each other or similar?

I probably don't have the in depth knowledge of some of the people around here (vinpous wink ) but if I can catch you on IRC I can do some simple explanations that shouldn't be too hard to understand. smile

Musictheory.net is awesome, but is a better practice tool than a learning tool I'd say.  If you can find a local class or something go for it!

Mine went much better than the first week.  If the progress shown already is indicative of any further progressions, then I'm on the write track!  (I'm punny...)

Rad!  Most of the rooms I'm in are always pretty stagnant.  I would enjoy getting some lively music discussion going!

Love FM!  If I could find Virt's talk I would link it now...  But FM really is great.  The timbre is just so unique!  For a while I've been working on Genny FM rave DJ sets ala Hizmi, to no avail.  Perhaps that would be a good point to focus on in the coming weeks.  I would love to hear some FM tracks on WB, link them if you make them.  FM heads unite!

I also want to do more theory driven music, i.e. some classic counterpoint, twelve-tone technique and others.  I actually want to study the techniques of some other composers in a more formal and serious manner! big_smile

Oooooooooooooooooooh! Studying classical composition was probably the best thing I ever did, even if it hurt my brain massively. ^^' I'm actually sitting on a four-part vocal piece that relies on twelve-tone and 16th century counterpoint. It's waiting for me to master counterpoint without it hurting my brain. O.o

Very cool!  I'd love to hear it when it's done.  You gotta take a break from counterpoint sometimes though... if you do too much it starts messing with your mind! wink

Following a brief chat with someone yesterday, I've decided to not write any chiptune-related music for WeeklyBeats.

Interesting, interested to see what comes of this.  But if you ever changed your mind for a week, I don't think anyone would be angry.  wink

Are any of you crazy enough to do this challenge in tandem with WeeklyBeats?  I'm considering it.

So while I'm 95% happy with the tune this has highlighted to me the challenge of submitting a track "NO MATTER WHAT"... because I wouldn't have uploaded it in it's current form if it wasn't for the deadline!!

I very much agree with you.  I tend to stipulate intense quality control on what I share, online or not, so I'm a little embarrassed.  But I guess we get it done no matter what!  Should at least make for a dramatic change comparing this one to my last track.

Probably my biggest problem, I'm not quite sure where I sit as an artist.  I tend to get stuck on different genres, I listen to everything from Jacazsek to Skilliam & Elijah.  And then write according to what I'm stuck on... I guess I don't know how to handle/market myself as an artist.  I need focus.

In ear monitors?  I've been looking at getting a pair, if only to protect my precious cochlea...

This is a tad harsh, but I think your message is good.  Break out of your comfort zone peeps, expand your horizons!

Obviously I want to put out more music.  Having more material so I can gig more often would be fantastic!  I also want to do more theory driven music, i.e. some classic counterpoint, twelve-tone technique and others.  I actually want to study the techniques of some other composers in a more formal and serious manner! big_smile  I'd also like to collaborate with some other artists to have some fun producing tracks with others and bouncing ideas off.  Sure to be creative!  Also new gear and different software are hot on my list of things to try, gotta mix it up and broaden my horizons.  In addition I want to explore different themes, such as trying a different one every three weeks or so.  Hoorah!
