At a stand-still right now, but I've been working on Lord of the Rings. I'm halfway through the Fellowship, but I hope to finish all three in a timely fashion. Gotta love some good old LoTR

We should do this! Idk when, but somebody should put together a killer melody, post it to soundcloud or something, possibly include a midi file download? Then everybody can have their say with it

That'd be a good suggestion for the weekly theme thread. Have a set group of lyrics that everyone can use in different ways
What if we did this, but instead with a melody? It'd be cool to see how everybody incorporated it.

The theme should be "music". Maybe a bit too broad though...

I actually think this is a good goal. Ensuring at least one comment on each song will not only keep us involved, but help newcomers stay interested. It really helps when you know that somebody is listening to your music.

All done now...3 of the 4 left have comments disabled, and the last is that track called "week 1" (see separate thread!). Nice work by The Anti-zero League...
Mission accomplished! We just need to do this every week now! For 52 weeks... Oh no... That's a lot of comments...

I would like to report that, as of now, there are only 12 songs with no comments! The zero comment movement has almost finished its work, only 12 more to go guys! Also, Slopelujah is crazy popular! It's got like 54 comments.

I'm on a mission to wipe 0 comments off the face of this earth. Even that is a daunting task....join me!
Cannot agree more with this idea. Everybody needs comments!

Let's keep in mind that sometimes the tracks that truly need more feedback are usually not the extremely awesome tracks. Since Weekly Beats is meant to be a learning and growing experience, often the most useful feedback is the constructive advice given to people who are newer to music. I remember during 2012 that I learned so much just by getting steady feedback on my songs from people who knew a ton more than me.
Also, the ludum dare thing sounds nice, but if people were to get a handle on the idea, we might see a spike in useless "That was great!" comments so as to boost their own tracks. Possibly just put that system under a "In Need Of Feedback" filter option?

Bryface, go to music and select the filter "Music I haven't listened to". I think that should work

Last year I never really listened to others' tracks, so this year I decided I'd try to listen to the other beats of the week. I'm already exhausted. There are a ton of people this year!

Re: Goals and Plans for 2014 (65 replies, posted in General Discussion)
Well, I'm backing up from my goal, seeing my mic sucks, I don't have a good recording space (at all!), and I'm actually pretty darn awful at guitar. It's also kind of hard to record live onto FL. Therefore, I'm just gonna do my thing, possibly add in vocals on a few songs. I also may switch to every two weeks later on in the year, so as not to rush the art, and to instead take the time to make decent music. Idk when I'd switch though.

Topic: Goals and Plans for 2014 (65 replies, posted in General Discussion)
So, I figured that, for this year of Weekly Beats, it'd probably be a good idea to focus on just one specific thing and grow in that area. Does anybody have any goals or plans of things they're planning on focusing on this year?
For me, I'm planning on only doing recorded non-electronic pieces for at least a month or two. My goal is to get decent at live recording instruments and vocals, and to flex my composing muscles more.
If you've got a goal for this year, post it below! I'd love to see what everybody's doing this year.

I think it's pretty awesome that everybody came back to check the site. Says a lot about our community. I hope I get to do some more WB someday, even if not in 2014. I miss this a lot!
