Weeklybeats is a 52 week long music project in which artists compose and publicly release 1 song a week for the entire year.
Starting January 1st 2024 GMT each participant will have one week to upload one finished composition. Any style of music or selection of instruments are welcomed and encouraged.

I was hoping I might ask 2 questions about sampling and the rules as they pertain to Weekly Beats.
Firstly, will vocal samples from films which are in Public Domain be considered acceptable or should vocal samples from films be avoided regardless of their copyright status?
Secondly, would anyone be able to recommend a reputable site for getting foley/field recorded samples? Google searching shows a bunch but I am unsure which would be the better options.
it's quite time consuming for mods to find the specific movie where the quote comes from. but if you clearly name the movie the quote is from, it should be fine to use public domain movie samples. but if there is doubt we might err on the side of caution.
