How it works

Starting on Monday January 2024 00:00:00 GMT (12am), Weeklybeats Members will be allowed to upload 1 song per each week of the year. At the end of the week the upload counter on the home page will restart and all submissions from the previous week will become available for listening and downloading. Members are encouraged to create a new unreleased song for each given week (of course you may submit your song elsewhere as you hold all rights to your content, but it spoils the fun if you release it before hand!)

The objective of Weeklybeats is to encourage musicians to be productive, creative, and have fun!
Here are a few common questions and answers. Feel free to login and reply to this message for any further assistance.

› Can I upload a old song?

› What style of music should I write?

› What constitutes a song or valid submission?

› Can I submit a old song? Can I start now?

› If I missed the deadline for a week what happens?

› What sort of license will my material be under?

› Can I upload my music to another website?

› Can I upload cover versions?

› One of my songs was deleted because of a non CC sample or cover, can I upload another song in its place?

› Can I upload songs early?

› Can I collaborate with other artists?

› Can I upload a song which contains copyrighted content?

› What is the weekly deadline?

› When are songs released?

› What format can I upload?

› Can I upload ogg/wav/flac/SID/NSF/MOD/XM some other format?

› Really? No OGG Support?

› What is the maximum filesize?

› Can I upload my source file (xm/xrns/nsf etc)?

Reported abuse or misuse of the Weeklybeats upload system will result in a ban and deletion of music content.

You've mentioned above that each submission must be a minimum of 61-seconds long, is there a maximum length?

Offline

There isn't a maximum length but songs are limited to 16mb as a total file size, which is about 16 minutes at 128kbps.

I don't know where to post this question and I don't think it warrants starting a new thread – can people sign up to participate in WB at any point during the next 52-weeks??

I can't find my submission from the first week... What happened?

Im afraid it was deleted as it had a sample from a commercial song. The Sticky in the general section and this FAQ are both very clear this is not acceptable. Sorry!

..but it's okay to sample from movies etc.? - something had planned on doing until I read and reread your posts concerning copyright.

Provided it is a movie which is congenial to derivative works (ie public domain, CC-NC-BY etc) absolutely. Here are a couple of good places to look for remixable samples

If it is a sample from a movie which isn't public domain or some other derivative friendly license, sorry you can't upload it to the site.

Hope that is clear!

P.S. It would also be helpful if we could "Quote" others in the comments section beneath the relevant individual's track as per the Forum.

You can quote, but you just need to write the tags in manually, but a quote button would be nice I agree

Hi my music didn't show up on the first weeks uploads I uploaded it 3 days before the closing time, wtf? Not a good start.

Did the upload page show that you had a track uploaded for those three days?

- edit- Also what was the title of your track? I was wondering if it included any odd characters or was unusually long or something?
