When I am laid (Dido's Lament)

By fetalface on May 24, 2026 11:47 pm

A dumbed-down cover of the transcendent aria from "Dido and Aeneas" by Henry Purcell, written around 1689. I recommend listening to Klaus Nomi's version!

Lyrics:
When I am laid, am laid in earth,
Let my wrongs create
No trouble, no trouble in thy breast!
Remember me, remember me!
But, ah! forget my fate.

This is a strange version, through a sonic kaleidoscope. I enjoy the creativity of it all!

You never disappoint with these super interesting sonic experiments.

This right here is Weekly Beats gold. An unexpected inspiration, and a wildly creative interpretation.  Abrasive, organic, amazing. Favorited.

Interesting take. Eerie soundscape. I was surprised when I listened to the version by Henry after yours.

feeling this

on some black metal action right here!

shout out Klaus Nomi! my buddy Marc has a Nomi tribute act called Aspic Tines. good stuff!
speaking of good stuff, i like this spooky recording you have shared with us!

Now that I have listened to Marc, I have reason to believe that yes, they are wearing a Space Blanket. As one must when one is Rapping In Space.
