Postlude (Wake)

By fc on July 18, 2014 1:54 am

The final part in the series. It makes for around a 22 minute EP over six tracks (five WBs). Will likely release on Bandcamp at some point soonish. All material comes from previous tracks. Marcel Duchamp from ubu.com and voice from here: http://ccmixter.org/files/orrisroot/43497

You had me on the edge of my seat; out-weberning Webern. Excellent work overall.

Reminds me of something my wife found on the Internet: "I love sleeping. It's like being dead without the commitment."

Hey thanks Jim. Webern is certainly one of my favourite composers of what I like to call old music. I take that as a great compliment.

The glitch "drums" are ticking like some white noise mechanic clock... smile

A pretty odd clock!

Very cool track. Would be curious to understand the Duchamp lyrics: talking art, or chess?

Loved this, the tones and rhythms are just perfect.
It's been some amazing music coming from you the last few weeks, looking forward to the ep!

I think it was "The Creative Act" clip, but I can't actually remember...

Thanks very much. You can listen to a gapless version of the whole piece (Insomnia): https://soundcloud.com/vince-giles/insomnia-complete-gapless-mix

Love the delay pings and the overall delicacy of the piece juxtaposed against the intermittent vocals.  Awesome.

Thanks man.
By the by, did I see that you are playing the Make It Up Club next week?

No I'm not sorry.  Next time I come to Melbourne I really should try hook up a solo gig.  Would be good!

Aye, but if I can say much the same thing (albeit, slightly differently), with half the words - why not? A great example is "Haupstimme", which kinda means "this line should be exaggerated above the others", somewhat contrary to any dynamic markingsā€¦ Glad you like it.
